STINGRAYS MIGRATE TO A WINTER HOME!

Twice a year the stingrays and Bamboo sharks go through an assisted migration from their winter home to their summer home here at John Ball Zoo. This is a process that the staff is very efficient at (with the cooperation of the stingrays and sharks of course).

A huge thank you to all those who read Keeper Dave’s blog about the garden here at the zoo and dropped off their extra produce from their own home gardens! We’ve had an enormous amount of donations and appreciate them all, as I’m sure the animals do too! 

EMERGENCE: MONARCH BUTTERFLY

Located on the boardwalk, our monarch butterfly exhibit contains all of the life stages of this beautiful creature. Everyday you can see caterpillars munching on milkweed, eggs hatching or being laid, and if you’re lucky enough to see, new butterflies emerging from their chrysalises! But is it a chrysalis or a cocoon?
