  • RULES and GUIDELINES:

    Stingray Lagoon ($1 to feed stingrays)

    • Children under the age of 4 must be accompanied by an adult.

    Budgie Aviary ($1 to feed budgies)

    • Strollers are not allowed in the Aviary.
    • Food and drinks are not allowed in the Aviary.

    Camel Rides ($5 per rider): 75 riders per hour max capacity

    • All riders must be at least two years old and a paying adult may be required to accompany young children - at the discretion of the ride operator.
    • Participants may be asked to ride with other riders at the operator’s discretion.

    Zip Line Adventure ($6 per rider): 40 riders per hour max capacity

    • Must weigh at least 65 pounds and fit securely into the safety harness.
    • Must be at least 43 inches tall and weigh no more than 250 pounds.
    • Must wear closed-toe shoes. Closed-toe Crocs are available for rental for a $1 rental.
    • No skirts or dresses.
    • Pockets must be empty - no loose objects such as cell phones or cameras.
    • No food, candy or gum while on the ride.

    Ropes Course Adventure ($6 per rider): 80 riders per hour max capacity

    • Must be at least 48 inches tall.
    • Must fit securely into the safety harness.
    • Must wear closed-toe shoes. Closed-toe Crocs are available for a $1 rental.
    • Pockets must be empty - no loose objects such as cell phones or cameras.
    • No food, candy or gum while on the course.

    Swan Boat Rides ($5 per boat): 36 riders per hour max capacity

    • Two adults and one child or two children and one adult allowed in one boat.
    • All participants must be outfitted with life jacket. Children 12 and under must wear life jackets while in Swan Boats.
    • A guardian, 18 years of age or older, must be present to sign waiver before boat rides.
    • People less than 55 inches tall must be accompanied by a person 16 years or older.
    • Swan Boat rides are limited to about 15 minutes.
    • Participants must remain seated, keep hands in the boat and not bump other boats.

    IDEMA Funicular ($3 per person, one way)

    •  All participants must follow the directions of the ride operator at all times.

    For all Rides and Experiences:

    • Medical – participants must be in good health and physical condition. Not recommended for people with existing heart conditions, back or joint injuries or women who are pregnant.
    • Weather - experiences and animal exhibits are subject to close due to weather conditions at the discretion of Experience Management or Zoo Animal Staff.
    • John Ball Zoo staff has the right to refuse participation on/at Experiences or Rides as needed to ensure the safety of the rider(s), other Zoo visitors, staff and animals.
